The ‘Smidse’; luxurious and charming B&B You will stay in a former blacksmith-workshop from +-1870, which is situated in a beautiful, historical and very quiet environment. It has been transformed into a modern, cosy and spacy studio apartment. It’s perfectly suitable as a base for various nice or sporty outings, when you simply need a break, or to be used as your ‘home away from home’ when you temporarily need a second house for work. Nice and quiet! A small introduction! We are Thijs and Sandra Frankhuizen. Together we have 2 kids, Gijs and Julia. We both finished our Hotel Management education in Maastricht in 2000. After many years of experience in hotels in Holland, Germany, Belgium and the UK, we thought it was time to open our own luxurious B&B. This became a reality in 2017, when we reformed the former blacksmith shop next to our house and turned it into a beautiful holiday home; the ‘Smidse’. The house Breakfast available on request in the weekend • Sleeps 7 people • 2 two persons bedrooms, one with one double bed and one with two single beds and a high sleeper ( nice for kids. Also there is a sleeping sofa for two people in the living room. • Babybed on request • Luxurious bathroom with bathtub, walk in shower and toilet. A second toilet on the first floor.• Spacious kitchen ( breakfast bar, dishwasher, oven, fridge). • Coffee and tea complementary • Big living room with a large table and lounge area. • Floor heating • Big TV with many channels and free Netflix on guest account. • free Wifi • Wood stove • Private terrace with nice church view • Private parking ( electric car charge possible) Reception and location The Smidse is a complete house attached to our own house. If you have any questions, you can always knock on our door! Of course you can also call, text or whatsapp! The B&B is pretty complete, but if you still miss anything you can always borrow stuff from us. For a small fee you can also borrow 2 electric bikes. The surroundings Lobith is situated on an Island called ‘ ’t Gelders Eiland’, surrounded by the Rhine and it’s arms. A true oasis of space and quietness 't Gelders island lies in the region where the Rhine (Bijlandsch Canal) branches in the Pannerdensch Canal and the Waal. The area is characterised by its many values, starting with biking or walking along the meandering dike roads with vast and enchanting views. All year round, but especially in winter one finds large groups of geese who make this area their residence. In the wild, just cross the road and you find yourself standing face to face with the impressive Galloway cattle cattle and koniks ponies, which provide in a natural grazing of the area.
